Welcome to Bellingham and Whatcom County! It doesn't take a visitor long to recognize that Bellingham uniquely combines the amenities of city life with casual, rural surroundings.

While Bellingham has long been known as the home of one of the most popular universities in Washington State (Western Washington University), the county lends a relaxed feel and pace to the city. In the outlying county you'll wind past farms and a winery as you make your way up toward the Mt. Baker ski slopes.

Bellingham is ideally located an hour-and-a-half from both Seattle, Washington and Vancouver, British Columbia. Nestled on the shores of Bellingham Bay, the city boasts a population of over 60,000, with nearly double this within Whatcom County as a whole. Its size gives Bellingham the intimacy of a town and the amenities of a city.

From the Squalicum Harbor Marina waterfront, one can turn and see Mt. Baker rising majestically above the foothills. Because of this beautiful, varied landscape, Bellingham and surrounding Whatcom County have received national recognition for such recreational opportunities as fishing, hiking, snow and water-skiing, backpacking, climbing and mountain biking.

It is amidst this beautiful mix of mountains and water that Bellingham finds its place. This is our community.
